O’ Blimey

O’blimey, the gloves are off. Obama’s attacks declining standards in education –  poor grades and poor teaching were identified. For US teachers, he backed performance-related pay, linked to results, and less protection for poor teachers.

If a teacher is given a chance but still does not improve, there is no excuse for that person to continue teaching,” he said. ” I reject a system that rewards failure and protects a person from its consequences.”

So teachers will want to work in the ‘best’ schools as they will get paid more?

Meantime we are shouting about the plans to have six month teacher training for mature professionals who want to teach. Now I should not be so dismissive – 6 months is for mature experienced professionals. I am not against the idea but I do know is that ICT (and all subjects) needs good teachers, the sooner the better.
